At least 29 students die in the Central African Republic, say Fontes

At least 29 students were killed when an electric explosion caused panic and addressed to a college in the capital of the Central African Republic on Wednesday, said two hospital sources.

The tragedy took place while over 5,000 other school students made the final exams at the center of the exams located at Barthelemy Boganda College in Bangui, said the Ministry of Education.

A source of the hospital told Reuters that 29 people died and 260 were injured.

“We were very shaken. It was terrible. Dozens of victims were coming,” said the source, remembering the stress that his team has tried.

Another medical source, which calculated the budget of the victims in 31, said that the sound of the explosion made the students think that the building would collapse.

“There was panic and some students jumped from the first floor,” he told Reuters, adding that the test participants were between 18 and 22 years old.

The Ministry of Public Education has declared in a declaration that a transformer located in the main school building exploded after a team of the main public service company in the country, Eernca, has restored electricity.

The declaration also reported that the accident brought to “a series of serious injuries, unfortunately including some deaths”.

The ministry said he would investigate how the accident occurred and promised to guarantee a quiet continuation of the exam session.
