Despite praising the Brazilians, the Italian coach believes that Hilal “deserved more” and enhances the effort of his players
The coach Simone Inzaghi cried Al-Hilal’s defeat in Fluminense. The Saudi team lost 2-1 and greeted the club’s world cup. In a press conference, the Italian praised the efforts of his players. However, he admitted the weight of the result:
“The boys were disappointed, but it is part of football. The football verdict was that we have lost, we have to accept, but losing such a game hurts.”
For Inzaghi, his team had a great performance in the second phase. He believes that the team was superior and deserved a different result. The coach was clear on the team’s offensive performance in the period.
“In the second half, we clearly deserve to score the goal,” said the commander.
Despite the frustration, the coach recognized the opponent’s quality. He evaluated that “two good teams faced each other, Fluminense is a very well organized team that is making a large tournament and today they won Al-Hilal”.
Inzaghi has also admitted that the recent death of the player Diogo Jota has emotionally shaken his Portuguese athletes. Finally, he was proud of the countryside and revealed what he told the group after the game:
“I congratulated the boys; they gave everything on themselves. This does not decrease the performance of my boys in the tournament; we passed all the expectations and we did it with our heads, hearts and legs.”
