Trump’s threat to Brics’s “challenge” in the United States

The president said that the tax will be applied to “any country in line with the anti -American policies of Brics”

The President of the United States Donald Trump warned that the countries in line with Brics Alliance’s policies against US interests will be affected by a further 10%rate.

Trump has long criticized Brics, an organization whose members include Brazil, China, Russia and India, among others, created to increase the international position of these countries and challenge US and western Europe.

“Any country that combines with Brics’ anti -American policies will be accused of an additional 10%rate. There will be no exceptions to this policy,” Trump wrote on social networks.

The deadline for countries to reach a tariff agreement with the United States was scheduled for July 9, but taxes seem to be in force from 1 August.

To date, the United States have signed commercial agreements only with the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

The White House seemed to announce another postponement in implementing rates. Initially, they have been suspended since April for three months, a date that now expires in early July.

But at the end of last week, a new limit of August began to be mentioned.

When asked if the taxes would have changed from 9 July or from August 1, Trump said Sunday (07/06): “There will be rates, the rates will be rates”.

He added that between ten and 15 letters will be sent to the countries this week, informing them of the new tariff rate if an agreement is not reached.

The secretary of the United States Trade, Howard Lutnick, clarified that taxes will take effect on August 1st.

However, the Treasury Secretary Scott Besent later said that this date did not indicate a new deadline.

Since it came into office in January, Trump has announced a series of taxes on the import of products from other countries, claiming that they will increase the American industry and protect jobs.

In April, in what the President of the United States defined the “day of liberation”, he announced a wave of new taxes in countries around the world, although quickly suspended his most aggressive plans to allow three months of negotiations.

The Brics summit of 2025 took place in Rio de Janeiro

Trump’s threat to the countries that cooperate with the Bric countries emerged after the members of the block has criticized the US tariff policies, as well as proposing reforms in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the appreciation of the main coins beyond the dollar.

Last year, the list of members of Brics extended beyond Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and also included Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

Blocking countries represent more than half of the world population.

The leaders of Brics, who hold a two -day summit in Rio de Janeiro, started last weekend, asked for renovations in global institutions and positioned the alliance as a platform for diplomacy between the commercial conflicts of climbing and geopolitical tensions.

A joint declaration of the Finance Ministers of the Brics countries released on Sunday (07/06) has criticized rates as a threat to the global economy, which say “uncertainty for international economic and commercial activities”.

Andrew Wilson, deputy secretary general of the international chamber of commerce, based in France, said that it would be difficult for the countries to stop doing business with China.

He told the Toray program of the BBC: “Going away from China in various sectors is much more difficult to reach in the practice of the world”.

“If we look at China’s domain in various sectors – electric vehicles, batteries and lands and magnets particularly rare – there are no practicable alternatives to Chinese production”.

During the Brics meeting in Brazil, the leaders also sentenced the military attacks of Israel and the United States to Iran in June, affirming that they represent a violation of international law.

Over the course of 12 days, Israel and the United States launched bombs and missiles on Iranian objectives, such as some nuclear structures, before the fire was agreed.

At the summit of Brics he attended world leaders, such as the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the South African president Ciril Ramaphosa.

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, did not participate in the event and was replaced by the Prime Minister of Li Qiang.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has a stopping mandate of the International Criminal Court against him for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, participated in the internet summit.

By 2024, Trump has threatened 100% rates on Brics countries if they adopted their coin that has claimed with the US dollar.
