The director of “Tim Maia” will film the life of Zeca Pagodinho

The film about the life and career of Zeca Pagodinho has defined the director.

The direction was entrusted to Mauro Lima, who is becoming a specialist in biopics. He has already signed “João, o Maestro” (2017), “Tim Maia” (2014) and “Meu Nome Não é Johnny” (2008), and will also direct “Não Aprendir Say Goodbye”, the film by Leandro and Leonardo.

The production is inspired by the book “Deixa o Samba Me Levar”, by journalists Jane Barboza and Leonardo Bruno.

The work portrays emblematic moments in the singer’s life, such as his childhood in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and the bullying he suffered for not being able to play football; a night in prison after singing at a Beth Carvalho concert; and the wedding with his wife, Monica, full of unknown guests because the singer forgot the invitations he had taken to his friends in a bar in Morro da Providência.

The film will also reconstitute the largest samba clubs in Rio de Janeiro, from Cacique de Ramos to Velha Guarda da Portela.

At the end of August the three actors will be chosen to represent the sambist’s childhood, youth and current affairs.

The production is by Roberto Faustino (“A Hora ea Vez de Augusto Matraga”) and Marco Altberg (“Minha Fama de Mau”) and theatrical distribution will be handled by Paris Filmes.
