Tonight on TV: When a rapper’s life inspires a movie

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: A Lifetime Adaptation of Rapper Kamin.

Remember… In 2006, the title “Marly-Gomont” hit the airwaves and became a national hit. Then France discovers the story of its translator, the rapper Kamin: “I come from a lost village in Aisne, Picardy, easy, 95% cows, 7% inhabitants and among them, the only black family. Be mine, a real nightmare. says in his song.

And it was from this postulate that he left ten years later to co-write the screenplay for the film Welcome to Marley-Gaumont. Centered on the lives of his parents, Seyolo and Anna Zantoko (Mark Zinga and Aisa Maiga), this comedy tells the story of their arrival in Marly-Gaumont in the 1970s, as well as their confrontation with the mistrust and racism of the villagers.

Ready to show that a black man can succeed in France outside of sports and show business, Camin first of all pays tribute to his father, who died in 2009, whom he credits to young people as a result of immigration. Originally from the Congo, the latter struggled to study medicine in France at a time when blacks only had access to the sector that allowed them to become nurses.

Directed by Julien Rambaldi, inspired by Raymond Depardon’s documentaries about peasants and deep France. Welcome to Marly-Gomont Touched by his sincerity and his humor. A little breath of fresh air that doesn’t sink into caricature or right thinking. Special mention to Jonathan Lambert’s performance as the odious mayor.

Welcome to Marly-Gomont By Julien Rambaldi with Mark Zinga, Aisa Maiga, Byron Leble…

Tonight on TF1 at 21:10.
