Brasilia, Jul 29 – The Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann (PT), defended the advance of the commercial agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (EU) during a meeting with the representatives of the European block in Brazilia, which took place among diplomatic tensions with the United States.
The declaration was made on Tuesday (29), three days after the entry into force of the rate announced by the United States government.
“I believe that the establishment of this agreement more than an economic question is also a political act, showing that we have bilateral relationships. Brazil has opened its trade a lot,” said the minister.
“President Lula was very important in this. Today we do not have a hegemony for our sales. We have a very large market in the world. And obviously the EU is very interested in it. And this agreement has been discussed for a long time. So I hope it advances,” he added.
The minister participated in the 9th round of civil society in Brazil, held in Itamaray, attended by the representatives of the European Economic and Social Council, whose president is Oliver Ropke.
“We never refuse to negotiate in Equi terms with our commercial partners and EU companions know it. But can we not accept it? Any sovereign country can accept?
