Sony Pictures began the development of a sequence for the classic of romantic comedy My best friend’s wedding (1997), and has already chosen who will be responsible for the script: the acclaimed screenwriter and director Celine Song (Materialistic loves). The information was revealed by the Collider website.
Oscar indicated for best script by Past) (2023), Song It has been consolidating itself as one of the most promising voices of contemporary cinema. The filmmaker was hired exclusively to write the continuation script, still without confirmed director or cast.

In the story of the classic of romantic comedy, Julianne (Roberts) and Michael (Mulroney) are ex-boyfriends who have become best friends. They agreed that if they both continued single when they turned 28, they would marry. But, on the eve of the fateful date, she gets a phone call from her friend announcing that she is about to marry another, the charming Kimberly (Cameron Diaz, Love does not take a vacation). Julianne finds herself in love with Michael and accepts the invitation to be a godmother, but with the intention of regaining him before the wedding happens.
