The space has been expanded to host passengers taken by bus to aircraft; The area will be deactivated when the terminal reformulation
Next Wednesday, 6, Consgonhas airport, in the south of San Paolo, will win a new remote sampling room – the space on the ground floor from which the passengers are guided by the bus to the plane where they will travel.
The original room has 1,400 m2 and will go to 3,300 m2. The number of gates will be the same, ten, but the spacing will increase with each other. The food options will also be expanded.
It is the first work of the great reformulation that will take place at the airport that will be delivered by the Aena dealer, who has managed the site from October 2023 and has committed himself to investing 2.4 billion until June 2028 to remodel the airport.
The concession lasts until 2053. With the works, the airport will be able to receive larger aircraft. Consequently, the company intends to increase to 29 million in the number of passengers who embark or land per year – by 2024 there were 23.1 million. Currently, CONGONHAS can perform up to 44 landings and take off per hour.
Although renewed, the remote room will be temporary. It will be deactivated when the airport renovation will be finished: the boarding room with a final remote control will be installed in the listed Hangar that belonged to Varig, currently used by the goal airline, and is close to the future boarding area through direct access to the aircraft.
The current check-in area will also be deactivated and what will be built in this space is not yet defined. The expedition will be made where today is the structure of goals, which will be transferred. The landing will be close to the spiral stairs to access the mezzanine.
