Sectors, shoes, beef and coffee fruit are among the most affected

Although 694 products have escaped the rate of the President of the United States Donald Trump, an even wider list should be influenced by commercial barriers. About 3,800 articles should still be penalized by the new American tariff policy and some of the main export sectors of Brazil will be resolved in full from Wednesday 6, when the decree of the White House is valid.

The taxation, signed last Wednesday 30, represents an increase of 40 percentage points compared to the previous rate. The US market is the second main destination of Brazilian exports, losing only in China. Overall, the taxed products represent 44.6% of Brazilian exports to the United States, in values.

In addition to the exceptions, all products in Brazil will be subject to an additional rate. That is: most of the goods will have a significant increase in the price. See under the list of the main affected by the rate:

Coffee

Brazil leads world exports with breakfast and the United States are one of the main purchase markets of the goods. Last year, the country purchased $ 2 billion from the Brazilian wheat, about 16.7% of all sales. The United States are the largest coffee consumers in the world.

Brazil is the main provider of the US coffee, which represents about 34% of all the coffee consumed in the country. The 50% rate should reduce the profit margins in the sector and make the product for the American consumer, according to the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé).

Shoe

The Brazilian Association of the Calzature Industries (Abicalçados) evaluates that the overload of Brazilian products should “make it impossible” the sale to the US market. According to the entity, the United States are the main international destination of the Brazilian footwear sector.

The country represents over 20% of the total value generated by exports in the sector. In the first half of 2025, Brazil exported 111.8 million dollars to the country, equivalent to 5.8 million couples.

Beef

After China, the United States are the major red meat buyers in Brazil. About 17% of all exports in 2024 were intended for Americans, equivalent to 1.6 billion dollars, according to the data of the Brazilian association of refrigerators (Abrafrigo).

Fruit

Although the orange and its juice escaped the rate, not all fruits were so lucky. The main objectives of the tariff war are mango, papaia, watermelon, melon and grapes. In 2024, Brazil exported 1.28 billion dollars of fruit, which corresponds to 1.076 million tons.

Fabrics

The Brazilian association of textile industry and pastry (habit) states that the imposition of rates will practically make the production of fabrics intended for the United States. Almost all weaving products have been taxed and only Sisal strings were spared. This article corresponded to 17% of foreign sales in the sector in the United States in 2024.
