Sandman: understand the end of the second season
First of all, know that in season 2 of the series there is a very important meeting of dreams of the perpetual with your family. After that, he has to face several impossible decisions to protect what still remains.
In search of redemption, the character needs to face old friends and enemies, mortal, gods and monsters. However, this trajectory looking for forgiveness has several twists and acquittal can cause serious damage.
In the series, Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the Lord of dreams, brings together his son, Orpheus, who became centuries imprisoned in the shape of a head. He asks his father to kill him and his parent does it. However, his attitude of accepting the request generates anger for furies, also called Benevolas.
Therefore, they begin to destroy the kingdom of the dream as a form of punishing it for the crime of pouring family blood. This is forbidden among the perpetuals. Despite having done the right one for the good of his son, Morfeo knows he has broken a sacred rule and is now dead.
In the end, he meets his sister, Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and accepts his end, claiming to be tired and then disappearing in light.
Morpheus’ death is an event that symbolizes the destruction of himself, something that has been built throughout the series, while he noticed how authoritative, absent and cruel with whom he loved.

After the death of Morfeo, Daniel, a child born in the world of dreams, half human and a half dreamy essence, whose was conceived in the first season and who had been burned by Loki, symbolizing the destruction of his humanity, reborn as the new lord of the dream.
It restored with a totally renewed appearance, wearing a white tunic and surrounded by an aura of purity, which represents a new era. It is the evolution of Morfeo, as it presents itself as a curious being, open to change and sensitive.
At the end of the series, the scene presents a “family dinner” without destruction, which follows in isolation. Among the members are delirium, desire, death, despair and destination, as well as Daniel – of course, the new member of the circle. The end of the production transmits a message of eternal new beginning and that things can always change for the better.
Post-cried scene
After episode 11, which ends the series, a post-Credit scene appears called “The Gentile”. In it the sisters of fate seem again, also called benevolents. They bring reflections on death, on the eternal cycle of existence and revenge.
The two appear different, lighter, serene, who take tea and speak of the inevitable end of a perpetual. They do not interpret death as a tragedy, but part of the work, because the end of Morfeo was already set. The character was gaining emotional mortality and becomes increasingly human.
Lyra Hall’s revenge also comment, who lost his son Daniel and said Morfeo was guilty, despite knowing that this was not the truth. The Furies took advantage of this chaos and pain and Lyra took revenge.
However, he has lost his son forever, since even after returning, he is no longer the same. The message brought is that the lack of control of our emotions is our worst enemy.
By finishing the scene, while taking a tea, one of the furies reads a poem that was inside a lucky biscuit. The text comments on the cycle of life, death and rebirth, passing the message of the eternal Renaissance. Daniel is not only Morfeo’s continuation, but the flower that has grown in the ground of the previous dream and is ready to start the entire journey.

Special episode bonus – Death: the high price of life
On July 31, a bonus episode was published, entitled “Death: The High Price of Life”. It does not bring a great connection to the end of the series, but focuses on death, bringing its perspective on mortal life.
