The victims were identified by the local authorities
Two Italian climbers died on Thursday (14) in an accident in Pico Castore, in Massi Monte Rosa, located in the Alps between Italy and Switzerland.
According to the authorities, the victims were identified as Marco Seasons, 34 years old, from Santa Maria a Monte (Pisa) and Alexandra Gheorghe, 36 years old, born in Romania and residing in Campodarsego (Padua).
The rescue was triggered early today after the inability to contact the climbers, who spent the night in the Quintino Sella refuge. The couple was located during a helicopter overflow.
The bodies were recovered early in the afternoon by the Aosta Mountain Rescue Service valley and brought to Champoluc.
An investigation on the case was opened by the Cervinia Financial Police. .
