Learn when the Corinthians define the new president

After the dismissal of Augusto Melo from the Corinthian presidency, the club confirmed Saturday (16) that the new elections will be held on Monday (25 August). The elections will take place indirectly, with the exclusive participation of life and three -way consultants who are part of the deliberative council, for a total of 299 voters.

The convening of the electoral process derives from the vote held the previous Saturday (9 August), when the members approved the impeachment of Augusto Melo with 1,413 votes in favor, which represent 69.59% of the total. The investigation took place in Parque San Jorge, where the former president left the scene after counting the fifth urn.

Parallel to the presidential elections, the new vice -president of the deliberative council will also be chosen, since Roberson de Medeiros has resigned for personal reasons. This vote will take place on the same date and will obey specific eligibility criteria, allowing the candidacy for consultants with the current mandate.

According to the club’s statute, to apply for the Presidency, the candidate must be a consultant for life or was elected to the deliberative council on at least two occasions by the General Assembly. In addition, legal rights must be updated. The requirement of not having definitive criminal convictions in the last eight years has also been added.

Although the deadlines and documents necessary for the recording of the plates have not yet officially disclosed, the club stated that the questions could be formalized between Tuesday (19 August) and Friday (22 August). The electoral process will be held at Wlamir Marques’s Gymnasium, inside San Jorge Park.

So far, only one name has been confirmed as a candidate: stable osmar. The current interim president assumed the role in May, after being elected deputy at the end of 2023. His stay in charge depends on the result of the indirect vote of the end of the month.

According to the official declaration of the club, the mandate of the new president and the new vice -president of the deliberative council will be valid until December 2026, when the current administrative cycle of the institution ends.

“The elections will take place on August 25 and will be conducted among the members of the deliberative council, pursuant to the statute, to fill the vacant positions,” said the club in an official declaration on the electoral process.
