Producer and screenwriter Vince Gilligan has revealed that he has no plans to resume the “Breaking Bad” universe after “Better Call Saul” ends. Speaking to the press at a US TV Critics Association (TCA) virtual panel, he confessed that he was warned never to say, but believes he tested his luck with “Better Call Saul.”

“I couldn’t be happier with the result. Then we did ‘El Camino’ [filme sobre o personagem Jesse Pinkman] and I was also very proud, but you have to know when to leave the party, “he explained.

Despite this decision, Gilligan said he intends to continue working with the people he built the franchise with. “I love working with them – I want to keep the band together, whatever happens, but in a different world.”

Co-creator of “Better Call Saul”, Peter Gould offered a counterpoint to the creative partner, preferring to leave a return to the franchise open. “I love Albuquerque [cidade em que as atrações se passam]. I love Bob [Odenkirk]Rea [Seehorn] and Vince. We want to keep the group together as much as possible and yes, never say never. Who knows how we will feel in two years? “

The problem is that creating a different series has become a matter of honor for Gilligan, as he himself confessed. “I have to prove to myself that I have something else in me. I’m not a one-trick pony,” he stressed.

“Better Call Saul” will conclude next Monday (8/15) in the United States, after six seasons and 63 episodes. But Gilligan also worked on 62 episodes of “Breaking Bad” and the movie “El Camino”, getting 14 years and nearly 127 hours of content from the same universe.

This Wednesday (8/10), it came to light that the producer is already preparing his next project, which would be in the style of “The X-Files”, a series he worked on early in his career.

“Better Call Saul” is available in Brazil from Netflix, which will release the final episode on Tuesday (16/8).
