CinemaDocumentary on Picasso wins debut date in Brazil

Documentary promises to reveal Picasso’s contradictions and secrets in Paris that shaped his life and work

On the day September 11, 2025the cinemas of Brazil the documentary Picasso – A Rebel in Paris (Picasso: UN Ribelle A Parigi – Storia di una vita and di un Museo, in the title original) directed by Simona Risi and distributed by Copyright Movies.

More than a biography, the film proposes a dive into the mind of Pablo Picassoexploring the contradictions of his personality and the historical context that shaped his trajectory. Half a century after his death, the documentary reveals less known facets of the most influential artist of the twentieth century: a foreigner in Paris, an anarchist in Montmartre, at the same time, generous and despotic, light and shadow.

With the participation of the actress Kavani mine (Awarded in Venice by At Bears), the narrative alternates between the vast collection of Picasso National Museumin Paris, and the neighborhoods that marked your life. The film also features interviews with critics, curators and intellectuals, such as Cécile Debray (President of the Picasso Museum) and Annie Cohen-Solalauthor of Un istranger nommé Picass.

According to the director, Picasso was “A revolution in form, but above all in the way we see things”. Check out the poster below
