The terrorist attacks occurred in Antioch and Cali
At least 18 people, including civilians and military, died in attacks last Thursday (21) in Colombia in Antioch and Cali, leaving dozens of injuries. For President Gustavo Petro, the attacks are linked to the dissidents of the country’s revolutionary armed forces (Farc).
In the first case, a drone reached a military helicopter that flew for coca plantations in Antioch, in the north of the country, killing at least 12 police officers and injuring others.
Shortly thereafter, the authorities of the city of Cali, in the south -est, reported that a vehicle full of explosives was activated near a military aviation school. So far six dead and more than 30 injured have been confirmed.
Despite a historic peace agreement between Farc and the Colombian government created in 2016, the cultivation of coca is increasing in the country. According to the latest available report of the United Nations Office for drugs and crime, the cultivated area of plants reached 253,000 hectares in 2023.
