Disney has announced the release date of the first plan with Disney + announcements, which will arrive in the United States for the first time.
The company has shared its plans for the future of ad-supported streaming, which will launch on December 8 in the US and will cost $ 7.99 per month, which is the current price for the Disney + ad-free plan in the country.
At the same time, Disney will take advantage of the entry of this new plan with the price of its current plan in the country to increase the price of the ad-free plan, which will cost US $ 10.99 per month, also starting on December 8th. Also, it will not be possible to contract the plan with announcements on an annual basis. Contract Disney + with annual installments, only on the ad-free premium plan, the value of which will increase from US $ 79.99 to US $ 109.99.
The arrival of the plan with the announcements is not surprising, after all, Disney had already announced its intention to implement it, with a launch scheduled for the end of this year.
According to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, the Disney + advertising plan will have a “lower ad frequency load to ensure a great viewer experience.” According to information obtained by The Verge, the intention is to keep ad breaks to a limit of four minutes per hour of viewing content.
In addition to Disney +, other Disney platforms – ESPN + and Hulu – will also receive plan options with the inclusion of advertising, as well as launching joint plans for those looking to hire combos from multiple streaming companies in this category.
Another point is that Disney will not place ads on children’s profiles, according to the company’s chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy.
Advertising-funded streaming is a market trend, with Netflix also aiming to launch its own advertising plan in partnership with Microsoft. Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery is also exploring this market for its streaming which will combine HBO Max and Discovery + from 2023.
As for when this option will arrive in Brazil, it is not yet clear in the plans revealed so far by Disney, but according to The Verge, the idea is to expand the plan with announcements internationally in 2023.
The Disney + post already has a date for the plan with announcements (and price hike) first appearing on Olhar Digital.
