Killing Eve: How the series that reinvented espionage ends?

Finish clapping for killing Eve! It’s time to say goodbye to Eva Polastri (Sandra Oh), a slightly ordinary MI5 agent (at least at first), and Villanell (Jodie Comer), a psychopathic assassin.

At the beginning of the series, Eve seems to have an ideal life: a job in an intelligence agency, a happy marriage. But this smooth life on paper is completely turned upside down in the pilot when an unidentified assassin enters MI5’s hideout.

At this point, Eve asks a crucial question: what if the killer was a woman? This leads to an investigation that turns into a true obsession, and Eve quickly proves that her theory is correct. The killer is a woman and it is a Villian. This leads to an impossible game of seduction, stalking, collaboration, gut punching, backstabbing for the first three seasons.

The two women spend most of Season 4 apart. Villanel really wants to Change and turn to God. Eve is obsessed with Twelve and wants to dismantle a secret organization. At the beginning of episode 8, they finally find themselves on an isolated island in Scotland after getting rid of the murderous Gunn (Marie-Sophie Ferdan).

Episode 8, the finale of Season 4 and thus of the series, is quite devastating. Together, Eva and Villanell leave a small, isolated island and wander into the middle of nowhere. Eve wants to find the place where the twelve are supposed to meet, and finally asks Villellel for help. The latter playfully grabs Eva and spins her around.

Eva and Villanel in episode 8

This tender moment is interrupted by the arrival of a couple who invite them to their shelter. Both are annoyed by their girlfriends, but it’s the time they spend together that allows them to bond. They talk about their past and their dysfunctional relationship. Then comes a tarot session where they read their future. Villanelle’s must be full of sunshine, while Eve faces death.

They share intimacy by sleeping in the same sleeping bag. And spend the night without a word. After morning, Villanel tries his luck. He puts his hand on Eva’s back, probably waiting for her to pull him away. Eve isn’t really receptive, but Villanelli tries again. She gently caresses his scars, which soothes Eve, who turns to him.

As in the season one finale, the two women experience this rare and unbreakable moment together. They appear on the same wavelength for the first time. Villian suggests stealing the couple’s van. Eva couldn’t be happier.

Caroline (Fiona Shaw) arrives in Hampstead Heath and meets Pam (Anjana Vasan), who informs her of Constantine’s (Kim Bodnia) last words and delivers his letter. Pam hopes this is the first and last time she’ll have to deal with him, but Carolyn seems eager to help her do something evil. However, Pam refuses to help him.

Eve is held by Villanel in episode 5 (prequel?)

Alone in the van, Eva and Vilanel are on cloud nine. They laugh while mocking the departed couple and enjoy these moments spent together. They stop to buy food and charge Helen’s phone – which contains basic information – which brings them back to reality.

They still enjoy the moment as if it was their first date. Villanel calls Eva a psychopath because she used a lot of mustard. They do not forget their mission and go in the direction of the pub where they are supposed to meet Twelve.

During their pee break, they walk alone in the countryside. Villanel leans down and kisses Eva on the cheek. Instead, Eva takes him by the hand and kisses him passionately. They laugh and smile after this long-awaited moment. But when they get back to the van, he’ll be on his way again.

Arriving at the pub, they bump into Pam and Caroline and learn that Twelve’s date has been rescheduled for a cruise on the Thames. Pam tells Villanelle that Constantine is dead. Eva thanks Caroline for seeing her potential when she was at MI5.

Eva and Villanelli then go on a cruise and break up on the spot, but not without a passionate kiss first. Eve pretends to celebrate a wedding on the ship while Villanell finds the Twelve’s hideout and kills them all. He then joins Eve and tells her that her mission is accomplished.

They hug, but Villanel is shot in the back. They jump into the Thames to escape the gunfire, but Villian takes several bullets. Eva helplessly watches the death of Villian. He tries in vain to catch up with his body, which sinks into the water and then rises to the surface to scream his agony. The end of Eve’s murder.
