The Riserva Pilot of Aston Martin, Brazilian, represents the team in the sessions held by the supplier of tires that aims at change for the 2026 season
The weekend in Monza did not put an end to the activities of Formula 1 in Italy. After Max Verstappen’s victory in the Grand Prix, the historical circuit is still busy this week for the new Pirelli tests. The tire supplier holds, Tuesday and Wednesday (10 and 11), sessions aimed at the development of the compounds that will be used from 2026
The Brazilian will divide the track with heavy names, including Verstappen himself and Yuki Tsunoda Japanese, both from Red Bull. The aim of the tests is to evaluate the behavior of the tires within the package of technical changes provided for 2026, the year in which the regulation will bring significant changes in the herodinamic and engines. The experience in Monza repeats the model adopted in Hungary in July, when several teams participated in the same test battery.
For Drugovich, this is another opportunity for exposure in the middle of the Riserva routine of Aston Martin. Since he won the title of Formula 2 in 2022, the Parana has been maintaining his link with the British team for 25 years, but has not yet received the possibility of aligning himself as an appetizer in a great prize. Participation in activities such as this strengthens its presence in the environment of the category, keeping its name in life in the discussions on vacant places.
The context, however, remains demanding. The Brazilian was close to the signature with Cadillac, a project that should have debuted in Formula 1 in 2026. The American team, however, preferred to bet on expert names such as Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez, a decision that again sent Drunovich’s dream to enter the grid.
However, Pirelli tests represent a precious tread space in a Formula 1 car, an experience that few drivers outside the grill can accumulate. For Aston Martin, with a constantly active reserve in official sessions, the team’s preparation also strengthens in case of need for the whole season.
Pending the next opportunity, Drumavich remains in the indirect dispute for a future vacant place, both by Aston Martin and another shield. Without the Brazilian, Formula 1 returns to the Azerbaijan GP, between 19 and 21 September.
