The icon will succeed on the 51st American Cinema Festival boards! After the opening ceremony for Pamela Anderson, Kim Novak was in the spotlight, one of the most memorable Hitchcock blondes in the 7th art history and for good reason: she was distinguished in cold sweating, which was long -known as the best film of all time.
Thus, it is a real living legend that we have seen a documentary from Kim Novak Vertigo Alexander O. By Philip (Lynch/Oz), the influence of the 1958 feature film on his career, which has never experienced another success of this scale. And we talked about the next day, with a feeling of discussing the Hollywood Golden Age.
Funny, upside down on himself, and in his time, he was generously involved, cheerfully exceeding the scheduled for fifteen minutes and enjoyed his status. “Call me” Legend “as much as you want”He tells us, laughing when we read his report about this name, and therefore, with these words, we thank him.
You will tell you that in the documentary dedicated to you, which was caught in the script for “cold sweat.” Is this his secret that you are going to do?
Kim Novak :: I fell in love! I liked this opinion that everything that Madeleine is trying to do is love. But as in my career, you have to fight so that people can see who you really are, what you represent. This role was perfect because it fits my battles against the studio. Maybe “The struggle” It is a bit strong, but I had to constantly struggle to get rid of what was expected from me. The wardrobe made this opportunity.
You will be surprised to know how much I like this gray tailor today when I was uncomfortable at the time. I had to stay straight when I sat down, at risk of falling and injury. But he helped me in this idea how he felt bad in his skin, because he was not his: he wanted, but he couldn’t, and I liked it.
“Cold sweating” is always considered one of the largest films of all time. Why is it going to era?
Because he was not stylized, he was realistic. Alfred Hitchcock today is the equivalent of William Shakespeare in the world of cinema: the one who admires everyone. What makes him last time is that he has released the actors and allowed them to be for themselves, without imposing them. I have to say that James Stewart and I are both reactors . We are not a particular style of people we spend at all prices, and the quality of the reality we have written in our characters means that we can show at any time.
Cold sweating does not get rid of it as it is authentic. It does not represent itself in a way that occurs at a particular audience or a particular generation at a given moment. But that is that when he came out, he did not know this success, because he did not seem to be in his time, so that means nothing. He lost because … I don’t know, help me find an answer.
Thanks to the power of charm, which thanks to its colors, a double notion or a well -known vertigo effect? Or just the fact that we can do without it to score a goal and change your mind when you see again, after a few years?
Yes! And this is a subject that cannot have the last word: seeing and discovering it, no one will say “I heard it on it, so I know everything” Or “I saw it and I heard everything now”. No one can understand the cold sweat completely.
“Cold sweating does not get rid of it because it is authentic”
The film says something started and ended with “cold sweating” because you never found as strong as the actor later. Is it true?
Yes, I am sorry that I have never been able to present my real performance that I was able to make exterior, not my energy, but all the feelings buried in me. I have the feeling that a large part of me could still be expressed, but I left Hollywood because I had to do it. I didn’t feel good there. For example, I loved playing some of the roles of Philip Seymour Hoffman, which I loved because it was a total reactor. I also liked the role in which I would give everything.
When you talk about leaving Hollywood, you say that you have a crime on the subject. Do you know where it came from?
I always lived with him and I don’t know other people had it. But this is something unthinkable: when something goes wrong, even if it is in China, I feel somewhat guilty (Laughs) I tell myself that it happens for such or for such a reason, and I realize that I am getting all the crime for me. This is what I do very easily, but I liked it that I didn’t have it. Fortunately, you will help me overcome this feeling (Laughs) I could tell you that you wait ten minutes because of me, because before that I had spoken to journalists for a long time: he doesn’t need much, but I always learn at the age of 92 to excuse myself.
This is not always easy because when I have a wrinkled face, I wonder why I can no longer look like what’s before (Laughs) But there is also this other aspect of myself, which says that I no longer need to claim that I am no longer. You have to live with him, get it and move forward. My mother said it was good for her own ship captain. Today I manage to maintain my ship’s waves. At least I try because I also have this trend of drift (Laughs) But this is life, and now I know that there is nothing wrong with that until we continue the course we take. I’m more tolerant than I was. This is one of the advantages of aging.
“I no longer need to claim to be what I am no longer”
Do you think that everything in Hollywood has changed for young actors that they are more freely today?
My God, yes! The industry has been very released! At the time I am still used to Hollywood, so you have to check that the wigs are stolen well because it hoped. But we live in a society that allows today to be more free, even sometimes I have the feeling I wanted to be at a time when he asked me to change this or that item.
So I’m both free and always hanging old rules. This is still a gift for actors, I have just realized what you think, what you feel and what you think.
