According to the president of Toyota Do Brasil, Evandro Maggio, the recovery begins on November 3 in the factories of Sorocaba and investigation, which was about to be disabled
THE Toyota will resume, in 30 days, the Car production in BrazilAfter a storm destroyed most of the company engine factory in Porto Feliz on September 22nd. The San Paolo interior plant provides the production lines of Corolla (sedan) and Corolla Cross (medium SUV). Just like the Yaris porta, which is still made for export,
According to the president of Toyota Do Brasil, Evandro Maggio, the recovery will be gradual “will give priority to the health and safety of people and the quality of the products”. The executive states that the return of production will be possible thanks to the shipment, from other units of the company abroad, parts and engines.
Initially, Toyota will only produce the hybrid versions of the Corolla line. This is because the driving sets of these cars, which combine electric motors and combustion, come from Japan. Therefore, the offer of these systems was not influenced by the interruption of the Porto Feliz factory.
Toyota will return to combustion cars in 2026
According to Toyota, the goal of November and December includes the recovery of the production of the volume of the hybrid line which will no longer be performed from 23 to 31 September. In any case, the return of the production of vehicles with combustion engines should only take place in January 2026.
It is worth remembering that there is already a lack of products in retailers. THE Car newspaper He discovered that some stores suspended sales of the corolla line, for example. In others there are only armored models, whose prices are about about 60 thousand higher than those of the table without ballistic protection. Although the production is not resumed, Toyota has recommended those authorized to focus on the offer of services, such as reviews and repairs.
Just like the cars made abroad who therefore did not have the offer interested. “We have Hilux (pickup) and SW4 and we have just launched Hiace (vans and vans) in Brazil,” says May. The three models are produced in the Toyota factory in Zárate, Argentina. In addition, there is RAV4, SUV imported from Japan into hybrid and hybrid plug-ins options (the batteries are recharged in the sockets).
The launch of Yaris Cross is postponed
According to May, the launch of Yaris Cross, which was scheduled for the end of October. Although the president of Toyota has not revealed the new date, the expectation becomes the second quarter of 2026. It is worth remembering that the model was the great bet of Toyota for Brazil in recent years. The compact SUV will have conventional and hybrid versions.
According to the executive, there is still no prediction of when the operations of the Porto Feliz plant will be resumed. According to him, 2/3 of the unit’s roof have been destroyed and the rest must be redone. Therefore, the priority is to transfer the equipment to a provisional area, for the evaluation, repair and finally sending to other plants.
With this, the company has temporarily suspended the employment contract (dismissal) of about 600 of the 700 employees of Porto Feliz. In turn, the employees of the Sorocaba and investigation plants will return to work at the end of the emergency holiday period. That is, on October 21st.
