Actress debuts a new movie, ‘After Hunt’ in October, and the group in question is even mentioned in one of the feature film scenes
Julia Roberts It’s back with a new movie, After hunting (After the huntin the original), which opens in October in theaters.
In the feature film, there is a scene where a mention occurs to The Smiths. Indie’s precursor band is one of the big names in British rock in the 1980s.
The scene hoped Julia Roberts to reflect on the band, which she says “love.” And, yes, she appreciates the group despite the controversies involving the singer Morrissey.
In recent years, the artist has been involved in a series of controversy. He declared support to extreme right politicians who support anti-Islam, segregation, the exit of England from the European Union and even racist policies.
Question in an interview with The Sunday Times (via NME) If you should not let go of the music of Smiths and their albums, like the classic The Queen is Dead (1986), Julia Roberts countered:
“I love the Smiths. If we do this, we deprive ourselves of a fully accomplished understanding. If you don’t know what you are being protected, how you can know more, do better, create better?”
She added, being contrary to the culture of “cancellation” and reflecting on how to separate the artist (Morrissey) from his work (with the Smiths):
“Some things are great, horrible, ugly. And we can all agree that: ‘Yes, it was bad. Let’s not do it again.’ But, on the other hand, there are other times when you think, ‘Well, who said it should be placed in a barrel, burned down? Who said that?’. We need nuances.”
The Smiths and Morrissey
The Smiths was active from 1982 to 1987, when he separated after fights between Morrissey and the guitarist Johnny Marrwhich was the first to leave. The band tried to follow without him, but soon ended activities.
Morrissey pursued a solo career and in 1988 launched his debut Viva hate. In recent years, he has been facing a wave of difficulties to perform shows, often canceled by himself due to health problems or various reasons.
