Game of Thrones: Why a prequel and not a sequel?

Game of Thrones: Why a prequel and not a sequel?

Almost unanimously described as a disappointment by fans of the series as well as the author of the books, the ending of Game of Thrones still left enough of a door open to give me hope for a potential sequel. But before a Jon Snow spin-off, for example, sees the light of day, it’s really in the form of a prequel — that is, a story that takes place before the main series — that presents itself. A brand new game. Royal Court series.

Set 170 years before the events of War of the Thrones, House of Dragons depicts the golden age of the Targaryen clan, back to when dragons still existed. So don’t expect to meet the iconic characters of Game of Thrones, especially the main characters of the program, such as Daenerys Targaryen, Khaleesi, played by Emilia Clarke.

Ryan Condall, co-creator of the series, justified the choice on our microphone: “We thought it would be interesting to know what happened two centuries before Game of Thrones, and more specifically to be interested in the Targaryen clan, descendants of Atlantis, who have unlimited power because they can control dragons.” It gives us a better understanding of Targaryen history, as well as the situation Daenerys Targaryen finds herself in at the beginning of Game of Thrones.”

Hence, this prequel was envisioned as a direct addition to the parent series. There is no doubt that this new work, adapted from the novels of George RR Martin (also co-creator of the show), will arouse the enthusiasm of Game of Thrones fans; But now it remains to be seen whether this prequel can stand up to the famous program, which is still considered – despite its disappointing finale – as one of the best series ever produced in the entire history of television!

You can watch Dragon series exclusively on OCS City and OCS on demand platform from August 22!
