In just a few days, the lost bus has become the most visible film in Apple TV+ in 100% of countries where the platform is available – or 101 areas, including France. It is a well -deserved success for Paul Greengras’s film, in which Matthew McConagaug in the role of a school bus driver, who is responsible for a shelter of twenty children in the city.
This spectacular feature film is part of the great tradition of Hollywood disaster films. Unlike the great works in this very popular genre of cinema, the lost bus has a special kind of goodness inspired by an authentic disaster known in the United States as a camp of camp.
A true story that inspired the film
The real story of the film-and, therefore, its protagonist Kevin McKay-2018. In the morning of November 8, the forest fires began due to malfunctions in high voltage lines. The fire spread very quickly, trapped by small towns of paradise. Firefighters took almost twenty days to set the fire.
More than 62,000 hectares of land burned, and 18,000 buildings were destroyed. The fire also said that the lives of 86 people are the highest of the deaths that have ever been observed in California due to this type of disaster. The price that could have been even higher, without the action of Kevin McKay and teacher Mary Ludwig (Americana Ferrera).
The film is a loyal adaptation for disaster, but some facts have changed. Thus, the son of Kevin McKayai – also played the true son of Matthew McConaah, Levi Alve McConnah – was evacuated in the first hours of the disaster. This change brings the film’s story to the time against the race, making it even more picturesque than the simple story of survival.
The main character of the true story is not visible in the movie
In fact, the situation experienced by bus occupants was slightly less dramatic. There was no time in the fire. Panic was mostly due to the delay of communications (we imagine parents’ dissatisfaction) and the fact that the bus was blocked by massive traffic jams caused by evacuation of inhabitants of the region.
Another change concerns the lack of a key nature. In fact, two teachers were on the bus, along with Kevin McKay,: Mary Ludwig and Abi Davis. But the latter produced that he wants not to appear in the feature film.
Despite some of these changes, the lost bus is perfectly conquered by the heroic action of the bus driver and teacher. The efficiency of Paul Greengras’s feature film and the degree of interpretation of his two main actors undoubtedly opens up the huge success of the film in Apple TV+.
