You may not know the indie yet, but this dog-star is the main actress in the horror movie like another: a good guy. Director Ben Leonberg has shot his own pet to make the film of the Hakunt’s house in terms of the dog.

For the original concept, a good guy did not overlook the internet, where the trailer was seen millions of times. Increasing the same concern from internet users: Will the dog survive? The filmmaker answers all our questions about this UFO project.

Separation: A good guy pays great attention to the internet. Millions of trailers have been seen in a few days. How do you experience this interest in the film, produced with such a small budget and almost craftsmen?

Ben Leonberg, Co-Writer and Director: This is grand. This film was made with love. It took a long time, but from the beginning I believed that the dog’s point of view reads the story of this convenient home. I was sure it was a good idea. So it is a great reward to read such reactions on the film and, of course, my dog.

You have not used a simple solution as an actor because he has never been prepared for it.

When I was writing a good guy, I started to make a test scenes where I went back to the scenes of horror films, replacing India’s human character, just to learn the progress of the shot, the opposite shot …

One of the short films I made was a hit on the internet. Indie was named for the acting reward. People really appreciated him, and at that time, I found a very original way to work with him.

I knew how to make a performance that was very different from what I saw in other trained dog actors. In part because he is my dog, so we can have loving moments, participation. In a good guy, I am swimming in the character of the tode and my voice has been replaced by a professional actress, Shin Jensen.

What was the most difficult scene to shoot Indy?

I found that the scenes that seemed difficult were the easiest and something that seemed easy was difficult. Nothing goes exactly as it was planned to work with a dog who does not know that he is in the film. This is an important factor.

So, for difficult movements, for example, from point A to point B and back and forth, we created small paths with bread debris that would follow. We scattered his food everywhere. In some cases, it is very easy to control your movements. But for the exact close distances, close to his face, it was really a challenge. You have to use lots of tricks and find intellectual ways.

Often we would put the camera on his face and use a piece of candy from the frame, so he would look at the camera, or I would say he would get his reaction. Cinematographic magic, first and foremost, is made by voice, partly thanks to a good guy can become a horror film because the filming was not terrible.

As for the most difficult scene, as soon as the film is over, it is almost a final confrontation that happens on a truly dark and stormy night. The sequence on the screen lasts only five and a half minutes and it took nine months to shoot.

How many people were presented?

Just my wife, the door of Fisher, who is a movie producer and me. We had some hats. So I was a director, film, carpenter, store worker, scene, everything.

My wife also learned how to use the camera. We both played human characters, we took the camera. Thus, the other may be on stage with Indies.

This unusual production was the least, but time was our most precious resource. All three have been working on this project for three years.

How old was Indie when you started filming? And how old is it now?

He was four years old when we started making a movie and he is now eight years old. The funny thing of India is that he does not like us. It does not need hair or makeup, so working with an animal has many drawbacks and challenges, but it is an advantage.

Indie faces the souls in this film. They appear in some form. How did he react to the team?

I was, which was muddy covered with fingers, so he was not afraid. First of all, we know how many dogs love the earth, so the first scenes were difficult to shoot, he put it everywhere. Subsequently, we took these rows separately, on one side of the watches and on the other.

One of the big questions for everyone is: Indie die in a good guy? The answer is… no. But was this a real question for you?

For me, no. I always knew how to finish the film. I think the reason that people are cautious, or at least anxious about whether the dog has survived the horror movie, is that they often do not survive. Usually, in horror films, the dog refuses to go to the basement, browsing barks or empty corners and dies until the first action is over.
