At 37 years old and weighing 305 kilosDominic lived a real nightmare: unemployed, he shared the cramped space of a van with his brother, Jamesafter losing his mother and the family home, auctioned off for non-payment. “My life is a nightmare,” Dominic said in the episode that originally aired on TLC. Both overweight, the brothers tried to sleep in the front seat, with no room to move, and constantly woke up with body and hip pain. Without a bathroom, they used the little money they had, earned through social projects, to pay for nights in cheap hotels and take showers.
Living on the streets of California, Dominic had to deal with food addiction: “Food makes me forget my problems,” he said, as well as revealing some childhood trauma that included his father’s abandonment and the sexual abuse that ended his childhood.
