The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) issued this Monday (13th), a warning of potential danger for Rio Grande do Sul, valid until 10am on Tuesday (14th). The release forecasts rainfall between 20 and 50 mm and winds varying between 40 and 60 km/h in different parts of the state.
The alert signals the possibility of occasional flooding, falling branches and electrical discharges, especially in the most affected regions. The risk of a power outage is considered low, but not excluded in areas with sensitive infrastructure.
As well as rain, there are further warnings for storms – valid until 6pm – and coastal winds, which will last until 9pm this Monday. In coastal areas, the phenomenon can cause dunes and sand to move over homes near the coast.
The authorities reinforce the recommendations not to take shelter under trees and avoid parking vehicles near metal structures. For emergencies the numbers to contact are 199 (Civil Protection) and 193 (Fire Brigade).
