The inevitable return to Middle Earth!
While fans eagerly await The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis – the original Gollum interpreter in Peter Jackson’s trilogy – Elijah Wood has revealed that he read the script… and loved it.
guest of honor DesertConAt a pop culture convention held in Monterrey, Mexico on October 4th and 5th, the famous interpreter of Frodo Locks was asked about the prequel and was particularly enthusiastic.
“I know a lot about The Hunt for Gollum. I’ve read the script. It’s really good. There are some great people in the movie. What’s interesting is that the original creative team is getting back together. The creative mind behind The Lord of the Rings – Fran, Peter, Philippa – Everyone is very involved. Then there are designers of the same production. “
The actor talks about the filming and continuity:
“It’s filming in New Zealand. That means there’s still going to be that continuity from people who also worked on The Lord of the Rings, and I’m excited about that. I feel like we’re running this old machine with all the right people. So I’m really looking forward to it. There’s going to be some fun moments that I think people will enjoy.”
Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen in the cast?
If he doesn’t divulge crucial information, Elijah Wood will thus rekindle the enthusiasm of the fans. When asked about a possible presence in the casting, the actor preferred to participate.
For reference, The Hunt for Gollum takes place during the events of The Fellowship of the Ring. Specifically, the film will take place between Bilbo’s birthday and Frodo’s departure for Rivendell – leaving the door open for the original cast to return.
Last August, Ian McKellen, Gandalf’s translator, said during a Lord of the Rings panel at the Love of Fantasy Convention in London. He described the project as follows:
“I heard there’s a new movie set in Middle-earth in May. Gollum will be the director and the story will revolve around him. I’ll tell you two casting secrets: there’s a character in the movie called Frodo, and the other is Gandalf. But I won’t say any more.”
A statement that already suggested that he and Elijah Wood would return alongside Andy Serkis.
