Two people died and four others were injured after a airplane Emirates cargo plane skids off runway and falls into sea during landing Hong Kong International Airport. The accident occurred around 3.50am on Monday 19th (local time).

The plane hit a vehicle on the groundwhich also fell into the sea. The two men, aged 30 and 41, who were on board the vehicle died. The plane’s four crew members were rescued alive and taken to hospital.

Rescue teams found the plane broken, floating in the sea, while the four crew members waited to be rescued with the door open, with no apparent injuries, firefighters said.

The pilots did not call for help via the control tower before landing and taxied the plane mid-runway before skidding to the left and falling into the sea.

The two airport employees were found only after a 40-minute search; they were trapped in the car.

“The patrol car didn’t run onto the runway. It was the plane that ran off the runway and hit the patrol car outside the fence,” Steven Yiu, the airport authority’s executive director of airport operations, said during a news conference.
