Juventude achieved a vital victory in the battle for the Brazilian championship. In a tense match, the Rio Grande do Sul team beat Red Bull Bragantino 1-0, this Monday (20th), at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, for the 29th round. Defender Daniel Peixoto scored the only goal of the match.

With this result, Juventude rises to 26 points and, despite remaining in 18th place, gains decisive momentum in the fight against relegation. Bragantino, in turn, stands at 36 points, in 10th place, and loses the possibility of consolidating itself in the rankings for the Copa Sudamericano.

The game

Juventude took to the field knowing that only the victory counted. Playing at home, Thiago Carpini’s team had more volume in the first half and managed to turn their persistence into a goal. In the 41st minute Igor Formiga advanced from the right and crossed for Daniel Peixoto, who headed the ball to open the scoring and drive Jaconi crazy.

The second half was pure tension. Bragantino tries to press, but it is Juventude who is in most danger. The most incredible move of the match, however, was a botched save by Alix Vinícius that almost resulted in an own goal, saved by goalkeeper Cleiton. The match was nervous, with many fouls and yellow cards. In the final Bragantino tries to block, bringing the goalkeeper into the area, but the Juventus defense blocks the decisive result.
