“Cillian Murphy will never want to work with me again”, joked Tom Blyth in an interview

“I have every respect for the Irish and I love Cillian Murphy. I was so embarrassed — I was so affected by jet lag that I didn’t hear the question properly and I just answered,” he said. “I was really exhausted and I wasn’t listening properly. I learned my lesson. Next time, listening critically is important.”

Murphy was born in Cork, Ireland, and moved to England at age 25 to follow his wife, the artist Yvonne McGuinnessduring college. He spent 14 years in London but returned to Ireland in 2015. Blyth was told he could visit the actor’s hometown after the apology. “We’ll see — maybe a little more time,” he joked.

Murphyin turn, won the Oscar of Best Actor with Oppenheimer (2023) and gained prominence when playing Tommy Shelby in the television series Peaky Blinders. Soon, he will return to the big screen with The Immortal Mana work that will continue the story of the series.

Recently, he told NME that his favorite album of all time is British: he’s talking about Abbey Roadof the Beatles. “When I was really little… we used to go to the town library and rent cassette tapes, and I remember renting ‘Abbey Road,’” he says. “Then I ended up living near Abbey Road.
