‘She’s Super Motivated’: A reboot of the cult sci-fi series is in the works, and for a very specific reason

After Black Panther, Creed and most recently Sinners, it seems that now it is in the land of TV series that director Ryan Coogler has decided to hang his bags. Currently in full development on the reboot of the cult series The X-Files, he recently spoke to our colleagues: Diversity about the progress of the project and even took advantage of some anecdotes about his mother!

The return of the cult series

The original X-Files series (9 seasons) created by Chris Carter aired on Fox since 1993. Following the adventures of two FBI paranormal investigators played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the series quickly became a cult favorite with viewers, earning its return in 2016 for two more seasons.

It is this monument that Ryan Coogler has decided to dedicate the rest of his career to, and for a very specific reason, which, as you can see, goes back to the root of his love for cinema.

“I love you mom”

he tells the magazine Diversity : “As my relationship with rock movies comes from my dad, The X-Files is one of the things I share with my mom. My mom is very important to me, so this is a big moment for me. I want to do it well, for her and for the fans. My mom read some of the scripts I wrote for the series. She’s very excited.”

We don’t know many directors who would start a project to make their mother happy, and that was all it took to convince us to give this new X-Files a chance, which we don’t yet know if it will allow us to find agents Mulder and Scully.

The X-Files series is currently available on Disney+.
