With training at the altitude of Quito, Palmeiras can change defense; related control

Palmeiras concluded their preparations to face LDU on Wednesday (22nd) in the semifinal of the Libertadores. One day after landing in Ecuador, Abel Ferreira conducted an activity with the group at the Ecuadorian team’s CT, in Quito. The first match will be played on Thursday (23rd), at 9.30pm (Brasilia time).

During training the athletes had their first contact with the 2,850 meters altitude of the Ecuadorian capital. Players were able to experience changes caused by weather conditions, such as variations in the trajectory of the ball. Left back Piquerez commented on the differences and recalled the duel in Bolivia, against Bolívar, in the group stage.

“We have trained here and we have already seen how there is a bit of a difference, especially with the ball in relation to the altitude. We are used to it, this year we have already played in Bolivia and we hope tomorrow we can have a great match. LDU has a very strong team, very competitive, and if they have reached these levels it is because they play very well. They have already beaten great Brazilian teams and it will be a good match. I hope we will emerge victorious”, he underlined.

For the match, Abel Ferreira still has a doubt to define Palmeiras: Gustavo Gómez’s defense partner: Murilo or Bruno Fuchs. Weverton remains out of goal due to injury, while Carlos Miguel will play his second match in the Alviverde shirt. In addition to Weverton, Lucas Evangelista and Paulinho are also absent.
