Moraes authorizes visits to Bolsonaro by the TCU minister and pastor; see dates

The INSS CPI rapporteur, Alfredo Gaspar, also received authorization, but withdrew from the visit

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from Federal Supreme Court (STF)authorized this Thursday 23 new visits to the residence of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). They were released Jorge OliveiraMinister of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU); Rogerio Marinho (PL-RN), leader of the opposition in the Senate; the bishop Robson Rodovalhofounder of the Sara Nossa Terra church; and the deputy Alfredo Gaspare (União-AL), rapporteur of the INSS CPI.

Gaspar, however, has informed Moraes that he will not make the visit. When Bolsonaro’s defense requested authorization, he had not yet assumed the role of ICC rapporteur. The decision, according to the deputy, is to preserve the exemption of his work in the investigations.

“I received authorization from Minister Alexandre de Moraes to visit former President Bolsonaro, to whom I extend my solidarity, respect and consideration. I decided to refuse, out of respect for the role I play as rapporteur for the INSS CPMI and to avoid any questions about my work”, wrote the MP on X, former Twitter.

“My focus remains firmly on completing the Commission’s work and on defending Brazil’s pensioners. As soon as this mission is completed, I intend to ask former President Bolsonaro for a visit,” he added.

The meetings of the other prosecutors were scheduled between 9am and 6pm next week: Jorge Oliveira, appointed by Bolsonaro for the CTU, will go on Tuesday 28th; Robson Rodovalho Thursday 30; and Marinho on Friday 31st.

Previously, in September, the bishop’s request for a visit was rejected by the minister when his name was included in the authorization to join former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro’s prayer group. “The ‘Prayer Group’, however, cannot be used for an abuse of purpose by adding ever-changing people as members just to make visits that are not specifically requested,” Moares stressed.

Rodovalho was a federal deputy for the Federal District from 2006 to 2010, when he was impeached by Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for disloyalty to the party, exchanging the DEMs for the PPs.

This Wednesday, the 22nd, Moraes denied the permit request that the former president receives a visit from the national president of the PL, Valdemaro da Costa Neto. The minister recalled that Bolsonaro is prohibited from having contact with those accused or under investigation for the attempted coup.

This is because the First Board of the STF decided it reopen the investigation into Costa Neto’s participation in the coup plot. He had been investigated and indicted, but not reported by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

The former president has been under house arrest since the beginning of August has already filed more than 75 requests for visits in the STF, according to a list obtained from Estadão Column.
