House of the Dragon: Get ready to find famous goals in the Game of Thrones spin-off

House of the Dragon co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik invites eagle-eyed Game of Thrones fans to test their eyesight while watching the spinoff. The series, which focuses on the Targaryens, is the first of several spin-offs based on the novels by George AR Martin. To remind you, it tells about the events that shook the Targaryen family two centuries before the story of Game of Thrones.

Miguel Sapochnik knows the Game of Thrones universe well, as he was one of the series’ recurring directors. In 2019, “The Last of the Starks” (Season 8, Episode 4) was the subject of ridicule. As the episode aired, fans noticed a Starbucks cup on the table next to Daenerys (Emilia Clarke).

The clip was later digitally removed from the scene, but Game of Thrones fans haven’t forgotten the mistake, and neither have the House of the Dragon showrunners. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sapochnik even challenged viewers to find the places where the Starbucks cups were digitally removed from the footage.

As he explains in the video, the team likely placed many Starbucks cups in order to later digitally remove them. If fans find where they did, they will receive a prize. When asked by The Hollywood Reporter what prize the audience would win, Sapochnik correctly answered:a cup of coffee“.

Miguel Sapochnik is not alone in organizing this hunt, as Ryan J. Condall, his co-showrunner, mentioned suggestions of making Starbucks cups for the cast so the cups fit the scene. He insisted that he and the Dragon House were very thorough in order to avoid a re-creation of the “Starbucks incident”.

In his words, the series is “They strictly guardedAnd they’re now on the lookout for any forgotten Starbucks cups that might catch viewers’ attention. All joking aside, Ryan J. Condall defended the Starbucks incident, saying similar incidents happen a lot on TV and in movies.
