Three years after Game of Thrones aired, the fan base has not been forgotten. Nevertheless, the series remains extremely popular, which explains the launch of several spin-offs by the HBO channel, under the supervision of the author of the novels George RR Martin, who was also disappointed with the last seasons of the series.
Although the first Naomi Watts spin-off was in development before HBO ultimately canceled it, it is ultimately a prequel series set 172 years before the plot of Game of Thrones will see the light of day. . Titled House of the Dragon, it traces the origins of the Targaryen clan and in particular the reign of King Visser I (Paddy Considine).
Like Game of Thrones, the House of Dragons cast brings together well-known faces from the community, but also newcomers, for a cast of mainly British actors: Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Rhys Ifans (The Lizard in the Amazon). So it’s a safe bet that Game of Thrones fans will be enthralled by this prequel, just as those who didn’t like the series will be more than convinced by this spin-off. Lacking originality, the Dragon House preferred to focus on efficiency. So there is less risk, but more reward, as the episodes follow each other with unabashed delight.
Therefore, everything points to the success of House of the Dragon, even giving hope that the disappointing ending of Game of Thrones will soon be a distant memory for fans. However, it remains for the series to find ways to renew itself, develop its own world and develop intrigue, otherwise it seems clear that in the long run we will tire of watching this new tussle for the crown of the Seven Kingdoms.

Visually, this spin-off is just as sublime as the parent series. The fights in the first episodes are reminiscent of the big hours of Game of Thrones, and everything suggests that the decision to limit the sex scenes to strictly necessary did not reduce the level of violence.
Hills of blood, beheadings, torture… the first episode alone sets the tone for an uncompromising series and hints at the arrival of new classic villains.
