Be there in 2022 when Netflix releases Troll, its first Norwegian feature film. If many people cried, the feature film managed to find its audience. With over 100 million views worldwide, it has also achieved the feat of becoming The most viewed non-English language film on the platformIn front of Sous la Seine and Le Cercle des Neiges.
Netflix has logically ordered a sequel, Troll 2, which will hit our screens on December 1st. The first trailer was released online a few days ago.
Twice as many trolls
For Troll 2, director Roar Uthauri is thinking bigger. Teams were able to enjoy a bigger budget (even if we don’t have exact numbers) if we believe Local media NRK reports on this. The Netflix blockbuster is the biggest movie ever made in the Nordic region, and you have to experience it on screen.
If the first trailer teased a bit of what’s to come, the biggest change in this sequel is the arrival of a new troll. And we should be allowed, in this case, a Godzilla / Kaijus style fight.
If some will still see the Nanardesque aspect (admittedly, the creature designs are quite specific), Troll 2 is primarily an opportunity for its director to explore a little more Norse mythology, as the synopsis indicates:
When a dangerous new troll awakens and wreaks havoc in Norway, loyal adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Chris face a mission more dangerous than ever. In order to defeat this creature that destroys everything in its path and try to find answers, they will have to surround themselves with new allies and delve into the heart of the country’s ancestral history. But as time runs out and the destruction wrought by the monster intensifies, our heroes’ fight to save their people from the darkness seems increasingly compromised.
So Nora (Ine Marie Willmann), Andreas (Kim Falk) and Chris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) will be back in Troll 2 and can count on new addition Marion (played by Sarah Khoram) to complete this Dantesque mission.
The meeting is on Netflix on December 1st.
