The actor has decided to suspend interviews or media appearances after spending “nearly 20 years suffering from anxiety attacks” due to the events.

Actor Jonah Hill (“The Wolf of Wall Street”) has announced that he will no longer promote his films with interviews or media appearances. The decision was made, he said, to protect his mental health after spending “nearly 20 years suffering from anxiety attacks” due to “public events”.
A two-time Oscar nominee, the 38-year-old has previously spoken openly about the years of “public derision” suffered by the “press and interviewers” over his physique. In fact, Hill admitted last year that due to his jokes at his expense, he was unable to take off his shirt to enter the pool until he was “thirty-five”.
Now, Hill explained that, having suffered from panic attacks for nearly two decades, she has decided that she will no longer attend “public events” to promote her work. The decision is already valid for its next release, the documentary “Stutz”.
The project is a film starring and directed by the actor himself about his relationship with therapist Phil Stutz. According to Hill, his goal in making the production was to share the benefits of therapy with a large audience and help people struggling with personal problems.
In an open letter to the press, he said he was grateful for the film’s release “at a prestigious film festival this fall”.
“However, you won’t see me promoting this film, or any of my upcoming films, as I take this important step to protect myself,” he revealed. “If I let myself get sick just to promote it, I wouldn’t be true to myself or the movie.”
“Through the journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the conclusion that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public events,” he said.
He acknowledges that he is “privileged” to be able to “take a break” from work and thanks those he works with for “understanding and support”.
“I tend to cringe at letters or statements like this, but I understand that I am one of the privileged few who can afford to take a break. I will not lose my job while working on my anxiety,” he wrote.
“With this letter and with ‘Stutz’, I hope to make it more normal for people to talk about these things,” he continued. “So that they can take steps to feel better and so that the people in their lives can understand their problems more clearly.”
“I hope the work speaks for itself and I am grateful to my contributors, my business partners and everyone who reads this article for their understanding and support.”
Jonah Hill’s statement received a broadly positive response, with several fans and other celebrities expressing their support.
Actor Josh Gad (“Beauty and the Beast”) was one of those who praised his colleague for his “frankness and frankness” when he commented on the news. “As a person who has dealt with anxiety for most of my life, I applaud and thank Jonah Hill for his openness and openness in discussing this difficult topic,” he tweeted.
Shortly after the statement, Hill deleted her social media.
Hill’s Instagram mostly shared pictures of his surfer lifestyle, praise for his sister, Beanie Feldstein, as well as the occasional photo of his girlfriend, Sarah Brady.
Hill walked a red carpet for the last time at the premiere of “Don’t Look Up” in December 2021, accompanied by his girlfriend.
