In the end, The Flesh Itself Is it based on a true story?

No, The Flesh Itself is not based on a true story, but rather a work of historical fiction. The film uses the real and brutal scenario of the Paraguayan War as a backdrop to create an original and claustrophobic horror plot.

During an exclusive interview with the Adventures in History, Ian and Alexander They talked about the partnership, the birth of this partnership between them and more details about what it was like to bring this project to the big screen.

“And I also do a lot, I did a lot of comedy, I did a lot of other things, and I really wanted, at some point, to get into horror. And so much so that I already had a first treatment written. So I think that their lives and mine, and the things that we were already doing together, little by little, I think everything was at that moment when we arrived and this happened”, points out the director.

It is worth remembering that the characters, such as the deserting soldiers and the mysterious inhabitants of the house, are creations of the screenwriters. The inspiration was to use a dense historical context of Brazil to build an authentic horror mythology, filmed in Farroupilha (RS), without being based on pre-existing legends or myths. The film, which has already been shown at the Rio Festival, was also selected for Filmquest, an international genre film festival in the United States.
