Titles for Canada in the main men’s and women’s finals of the ADK Juniors Cup, 16th edition of the Santa Catarina Tennis Cup, a youth event with important points in the International Tennis Federation ranking.
The competition took place at the Itamirim Clube de Campo, in Itajaí (SC) and was sponsored by Taroii Investment Group, in addition to the support of the Santa Catarina Tennis Federation and the Brazilian Tennis Confederation. In the women’s category Clara Coura, just 14 years old, was beaten by the main favourite, the Canadian Andrea Cabio, 6/1 6/2. Canada was also in the men’s category. Joshua Adamson, the main favourite, beat the athlete from Blumenau (SC), Carlos Eduardo Lino, by 6/4 6/3.
At 16 years old, title for Santa Catarina with Giovanna Aude beating Bianca Bronholo of Paraná 6/1 6/3. In the men’s category, the trophy went to Klilian Postigo, at 14 David Lichtnow won the cup in the men’s category, and Ana Faminova took it among the girls.
In the doubles the champion was Maria Carbone from Santa Catarina together with Maria Fernanda Lopes. In the men’s category the winners were the Canadian Antoine Genereaux and the Venezuelan Rodolfo de Andreis.
“Once again the tournament was a success, we had a few days of rain, but the structure of the Itamirim courts was very good, they dried very quickly. It is always a challenge to do Tennis Kids with Cosat and ITF, but we used 13 courts and we finished today with a very good level. Many people from Santa Catarina really enjoyed the event. We ended a very positive week, we welcomed everyone”, said Douglas Oliveira, director of the event.
