A violently raw episode
Mayor
Under the name “Satan’s minions” and Bullying boys In the original version, this ninth episode of season 3 tells the story of the arrival of the Gallender brothers in Walnut Grove, determined to deceive local merchants and take advantage of this isolated community without a sheriff to reign in fear. The younger brother, Bubba, goes to school with Laura, Mary and all the other children.
Larger than the others, Bubba quickly becomes violent towards the students, pushing Laura and hitting Mary, giving her a black eye. Then it was the turn of Caroline Ingall, their mother, to be attacked by two elders who pushed her and sexually and physically assaulted her while she was selling chicken eggs in the village.
“In the world of Little House on the Prairie, it’s probably the most overtly dangerous scene in the series.”Trusts Dean Butler.
“As a spectator, it’s incredible”

Caroline
“Its depiction of the trauma of sexual assault is very accurate”emphasizes Arngrim about Karen Grassley’s game after the attack, “The desperation he has in denial is that he just blames himself for the egg drop.”
“And this is Caroline.”he continues. The audience has to say to themselves: “But this is their mother, she is the mother of the heroes.”Arngrim continues, followed by Pamela Bob, who highlights: The fact that we are touching the mother adds to the horror, (…) as a viewer, it is incredible.

Charles discovers his wife’s assault
“I’ve never seen so many women beaten on TV, it’s shocking, I’m still shocked when I think about that episode and when I watch it again I’m like, ‘Damn, they really went that far'”Pamela Bob concludes.
Charles Ingall’s blood boils when he hears the news of his wife’s assault, but two brothers (one of whom has worked with actor Clint Eastwood the most) give him trouble. It will take all of Walnut Grove coming together to hunt down the two crooks and their violent little brother, ending their reign of terror as well as the episode. We will never see them again in the village, where life will resume peacefully.
