The rap group’s great success gained a piseiro-style version and serves as a soundtrack for the characters
If you watched all five episodes of Tremembéwhich portrays the day-to-day life of the penitentiary unit Penitentiária Doutor José Augusto César Salgado, known as the “prison of the famous” for receiving those convicted of crimes of great national repercussion, you may have noticed lively music, in a piseiro style, serving as a soundtrack for some characters.
The secret meetings between Daniel Cravinhos (Felipe Simas, The Adventures of José & Durval) and his new girlfriend, Celina (played by newcomer Duda Siqueira), are usually packed with verses that, in case you haven’t noticed, due to the drastic change in the melody, are from “Vida Loka (Pt. 1)”one of the group’s biggest hits Racionais MC’spresent on the album Nothing Like One Day After Another Day2002.
“Faith in God that he is just / Hey, brother, never forget / On guard, warrior, raise your head, trout / Wherever you are, however it may be, have faith / Because even flowers grow in the dump”.
The version in question is sung by the singer, composer, producer and arranger Greloborn in Anápolis, in Goiás. Born Gabriel Ângelo Furtado de Oliveiranow 28 years old, the artist has already composed hits for artists such as Simone Mendes, Luísa & Maurílio, Jorge & Mateus and Matheus & Kauanbut went viral with his own work in 2024, with the song “Only Faith”present on his debut album, It’s Grelo.
“Vida Loka (Pt. 1)”which has taken over social media after the premiere of the new series true crime Brazilian, is also present on the album, as well as versions of “Days of Struggle”from the band Charlie Brown Jr.; “Sooner or Late“from NXZero; “Words in the Wind”from Cassia Eller; and “That’s It”played by Ana Carolina and Your Jorgeall redesigned in the style of Grelowhich mixes forró, arrocha and piseiro to build its melodies. What is the story of Tremembé?
Tremembé is based on the book of the same name by Ulisses Campbell — in addition to other publications by the journalist such as Suzane: Murderer and Manipulatorabout the history of Susanne von Richthofenwho ordered the death of his own parents; and Elize Matsunaga: The Woman Who Dismembered Her Husbandabout the murder of the businessman Marcos Kitano Matsunaga — and promises to reveal the routine of criminals gathered in the penitentiary located in Tremembé, in the interior of São Paulo.
