More than ten years after it aired, no one has been able to forget the first season of True Detective. The HBO series in this case brought together Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the role of two detectives assigned to a dark case, who engage in introspection of their past during the course of the investigation.
A critical and public success, True Detective won prestigious Emmy and Golden Globe awards. But the series then took a new trajectory with subsequent seasons, each pursuing a different investigation with new characters.
The second season of True Detective started in a new way
Season 2, starring Colin Farrell, had a cold shower effect, while Seasons 3 and 4 (with Mahershala Ali and Jodie Foster) managed to remedy the situation, while reproducing the success of the show’s first season. Season 5 won’t bring back McConaughey and Harrelson, but it might bring Nicolas Cage.

Not season 2, but a new project for two American actors
Although Matthew McConaughey has already hinted at the possibility of a sequel, Woody Harrelson, for his part, was adamant about the idea of making a new season of True Detective. “Mate is very funny. But to be honest, there’s no chance. I’m happy with what we’ve done and doing another season would spoil that feeling in my opinion.”He said on the NBC show (Matt term).
Thus, this should end (for good?) rumors of a True Detective season 1 sequel. This decision will in no way affect the friendship between the two men, especially since Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will soon share a poster for the new series, described as a comedy about which we still do not know much.
