Brazil beat Slovakia 2-1 and will face Germany and the United States in the next few days
Livas Damázio, from Cuiabá (MT), who trains at Rede Tênis, led Brazil’s victory on the first day of the under-16 World Cup, the youth Davis Cup, played in Santiago, Chile. The team won 2-1 against Slovakia.
The Cuiaba native defeated Andrej Adamovic 6/0 6/1. In the second singles match, Leonardo Storck, of the Rio Tennis Academy, was beaten by Leon Sloboda 7/6 (11/9) 6/4. In doubles, Livas and Storck beat Leon Sloboda and Richard Krizan 6/0 6/4.
“I felt good here, it was difficult to play. A tough day with a bit of wind. I managed to play well, at a good level, I won the match in difficult conditions and I’m confident. I was nervous for the series opener, I tried not to think about it and just play tennis. We Brazilians are used to playing on clay here in South America, it’s nice and now we will focus on the next duels,” Livas said.
The Brazilian team will face the United States and Germany in the next few days in search of a place in the quarterfinals. The team was South American champion in August in Luque, Paraguay.
