The story of Professor Samuel Petty, who was killed on October 16, 2020, will be the subject of a motion picture. As we learn from the columns the world This weekend, actor Jean-Paul Rouvi was cast as a history-geography professor who was the victim of an attack at the college of Conflans-Saint-Honorin.
The film titled The Silence of God will be directed by Stefan Strecker. The Belgian film director, a former journalist, notably directed the film L’Ennemi, which focused on the case that caused a lot of ink in Belgium, the Wesfael Affair. Filming is planned for 2026.
No other details have yet filtered in on this theatrically-destined project. We don’t know if this will be an adaptation of one of the works already published around Samuel Petty.
Most recently, actress Carole Bouquet was at the theater for a reading of Emily Fresh, The Professor, a text depicting the history-geography professor’s last eight days, published by Albin Michel in October 2024.
TV feature project
Another project on the story of this attack is also planned for television. As reported by the magazine full screenAs of September 2024, one unit is in production or pre-production. Titled La Rumeur, this TV movie, written by Alice Gerault, will be directed by Rodolphe Tissot.
Samuel Petty’s story has also been the subject of several documentaries, including Mr. Petty’s College, which recently aired on France 2.
