Spider-Man: Why was playing Mysterio ‘cathartic’ for Jake Gyllenhaal?

Jake Gyllenhaal, Mysterio’s interpreter in Spider-Man: Far From Home, explained why playing the Marvel character was a “cathartic experience”

Jake Gyllenhaalinterpreter of Mystery in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), stated that playing the character was a “cathartic experience.” The star explained to vanity fair how to star in the production starring Tom Holland It made him see acting differently.

Gyllenhaal shared about the process while starring in the Marvel: “What was interesting when I entered Spider-Man: Far From Home was that he was taking me too seriously. I’m sure of it. I really lost that sense of play and fun that I have.”

The star continued: “That kind of classy clown I am, making faces. It was such a cathartic thing to be able to throw away all that seriousness and really become the actor I think I always wanted to be in a lot of ways. And finding play, fun and gratitude for being able to do that.”

“AND [estrelar as produções] it’s all about the family making a movie. It’s about the experience you have with the people you’re making that movie with,” added the actor from Brokeback Mountain’s Secret (2005).

Gyllenhaal stated that the production changed the way in which he understood acting: “We go through journeys in our lives where we are finding ourselves and, in the case of Spider man, I realized, ‘Hey, acting is so much fun. Enjoy! And the people are fantastic! Enjoy them and enjoy life around you because it goes by super fast.’”
