As for his previous feature film – Everyone Upright – Frank Dubosky chooses a title that rings true! His new comedy is called Rumba la vie, and we asked how they chose the name, and in this case, the dance.
That is, could, for example, Rumba La Vie be called Chacha La Vie? Tango life? The list could go on and on!
“Yes, of course it could“, answers Frank Dubosky as a title.That’s because it sounds good! This is the dance life! Live your life! That’s all it means…”
“It could have been a different dance than the rumba“, he continues.”There was a fall on the rumba. First, there is something else about the film. At one point in class, he says, “We dance everything that can be danced.” I definitely encountered music while writing. I didn’t know yet which dance would get the upper hand. And then I asked what was this music that came to me: they told me “it’s rumba” and then I said “it will be rumba”. Rumba Life! Rumba would be one that originated as a dance.”
Frank Dubosky performs:It is a fact that Rumba is also Congolese. Inevitably, in my story I was pleased that it was the rumba. In relation to the neighbor, in relation to the story, to find this African neighbor who, for my character, definitely knows how to dance.”
For reference, the title of Everyone Up, his previous film, was a reference to a mistake that has gone down in the history of television bloopers! This was more precisely the mistake of singer Francois Feldman during the 1996 Telethon ceremony.
At the 10th Telethon ceremony, singer François Feldman invited the audience to stand up to sing his hit “Play not” with him. “Everybody up there,” he called out to an enthusiastic audience… an audience of children in wheelchairs.
Frank Dubosc has confirmed that Francois Feldman’s clumsiness is indeed the origin of the title of his first work. “It was the job title “get up and walk” “But I don’t think it was very gracious,” he says..”
“Everyone had a lot of laughs at this mistake made in front of people who couldn’t get up, but in the end I think it’s very positive– Dubosk continues.Because getting up is in your head. Moreover, my character says this when talking about the disabled Florence: “She thinks faster, she goes faster, she lives longer than we do.” It means “much more than me.”“”
All Up, Frank Dubosky’s first comedy was released in March 2018 and garnered more than 2.4 million viewers.
