Warning, spoilers. The following article will reveal key elements from the first episode of “Dragon House”.
There have been some memorable death scenes in Game of Thrones, and many of them have been brutal and visceral: House of the Dragon looks set to be no exception.
The prequel really hit hard after the first episode with the famous – and controversial – childbirth scene that hasn’t stopped being talked about since it aired.
To remind you, in the episode, King Viserys (Paddy Considine) orders a caesarean section on his wife, Queen Emma Arryn (Sian Brooke) without her consent and while she is conscious: the operation fails.
The scene indeed ends with the death of the queen, her bed soaked with blood, which the audience saw ooze from her womb. The child, named Baelon by Viserys (after the king’s father), is born only to die hours later.
However, Paddy Considine reveals that the scene was even more heartbreaking than what we saw on screen.

As reported by Wiki of Thrones, the actor told Insider on the topic in a media roundtable interview with Popsugar and Metacritic:There were hard days of filming. Shooting was difficult. Everything is illusory, but it was difficult. It was very moving.“
In fact, it was a lot more brutal and a lot more moving than what’s in the episode. And I wasn’t sure when I first saw it.
He continued: “Maybe it was too much because Viserys is completely destroyed and maybe it was too much to show at first. I think they cut it very well.“
Paddy Considine went on to praise his co-star Sian Brooke, who has already made a huge impact on the show even during her short tenure as Queen Emma Arryn.
“We went there and there are many tears. But kudos to Sian because he withstood the physicality at all. It was very physical work on his part. The scene hangs over the top of the show for a long time.“

Described by fans as the most difficult sequence to watch in this pilot — and for some in all of Game of Thrones — shocked fans who expressed themselves on social media.
And critics followed, especially for including that fatal scene without advance warning.
Although director Miguel Sapochnik told the press that he had consulted many women before deciding to include the footage, some charities argued that a warning should have been added before the film began.
According to Deadline, the charity’s director, Jen Coates, told the BBC about the importance of series like Dragon House to make people aware of what will be shown. “I think it’s pretty traumatizing for someone“, she said.
“With 13 children dying every day in the UK, the situation also directly affects a huge community of people. In this way, people can be better equipped with this information and make an informed decision to watch or skip specific scenes or episodes.“
The first episode of House of the Dragon, available on OCS, will be followed by 9 other chapters, making up its first season.
