Can you finish these lines from King Lot, the delicious Camelot character whose Latin quotes mean nothing? Test yourself with our special quiz that will be confusing if you get it wrong. “Dura lex, sed lex!” The law is strict, but it is the law!
King Lot of Orkney is played by François Rollins. Orcania is a kingdom located at the northern tip of Brittany as represented in Camelot. Lot is known for his nonsensical and incorrect Latin quotations and penchant for treachery and conspiracy. Lot is married to Anna Tintagel, Arthur’s half-sister, with whom he has a son, Gowen, who is therefore both King Lot’s son and Arthur’s nephew.
During the series, it is revealed that King Lot possesses a magic spell and can shoot lightning with his fingers. We also learn that his wife hates him and cuts to the real threads of the plots he regularly hatches with his allies Dagonet and Galesin.
At the time of Lancelot’s separation and his emancipation from Camelot, King Lot favored King Ban’s son by funding his departure and armed forces. For his treachery, he is judged by Arthur, who eventually spares him, simply sending him back to Orkney with his accomplices, with orders not to move.
Ten years later, in Camelot – Part I, we find that Lot, like Dagonet, lives in Camelot and acts as an adviser to Lancelot, who has become the tyrant of Brittany. At the end of the movie, Arthur will take back the castle, but what will he do with the current advisors? The answer will have to wait for the second part, which will be a two-part feature film and will be shot next spring.
