Tonight on TV: an action B-series that deserves a session

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: An old-school action flick from the makers of “Taken” and “The Transporter.”

In 2018, EuropaCorp announced that Luc Besson and Richard Wenk (Equalizer, Expendables 2) were writing the action thriller. Titled Elite Robbers, it tells the story of a team of Navy SEALs who, in the midst of the Bosnian War, decide to surface a treasure hidden at the bottom of a lake by German soldiers in 1944.

All the ingredients of an explosive and crazy action comedy are there: evil and mocking soldiers, tank battles, explosions, dogfights between fighter jets and helicopters, and therefore… underwater robbery!

Steven Quall (Black Storm, Final Destination 5) is in charge of this daring mission. Indeed, as a regular collaborator of James Cameron – he notably worked as the director of the second part of Titanic, as well as the visual effects supervisor on Avatar – the latter is a great connoisseur of the work of an action film in an aquatic environment.

In this way, he combines Sullivan Stapleton, rough characters, Dimitri Leonidas, Charlie Buell, Clemens Schick (seen in Overdrive), Sylvia Hawkes or the brilliant JK Simmons, in the skin of a rough commander.
