The Conners lose one of their original Roseanne characters

Fans of the beloved sitcom of the 80s and 90s rosanna they were introduced to the Conners and spent nine years with them. They then returned a few years ago as a reboot, which was later renamed ias The Conners. For 14 seasons we have come to know and love the Conner family, with an exciting live-action episode included, but sadly a Conner will be missing from the upcoming fifth season.

Michael Fishman, who has played DJ Conner since he was only seven, has retired The Conners before season 5, second Variety. Although the reason for his departure, or how the DJ will be written, has not been revealed, it has been reported that the show will leave the door open if he decides to return for an appearance in the future. Jayden Rey, who plays DJ May’s daughter, will also not return as a series regular, but will return as a guest. Fishman’s son died two years ago, which impressed him a lot and may have influenced his decision to leave the show.

Fishman has portrayed David Jacob “DJ” Conner since the show’s second episode in 1988, appearing in nearly every episode of rosanna before resuming his role in the revival, which he later became The Conners. Last year, the actor spoke to Gossipify about the only element of rosanna I was looking forward to seeing more, noting the very recognizable kitchen set and its opening between the living room. Now, however, it looks like the rooms will look pretty empty without his presence.

season 4 finale The Conners it was as big and moving as ever, with two newly weds and a sudden and surprising breakup between Harris and Aldo. It also included a heartfelt reminder to rosanna in the credits that show props and familiar settings that have existed since the early years of the sitcom. Oddly, those credits that date back to the original series look like a nice open door for Fishman’s departure, since he brought fans back to the 1980s.

despite his departure The Conners, the forty-year-old actor keeps busy. Currently, he has 12 upcoming projects of which he is a producer or executive producer, according to its IMDb page. So it’s entirely possible that the reason she wanted to leave the ABC series was to be able to focus on that part of her career. It will be interesting to see how her character is written and if she returns, even if only for an episode or two in the future.
